The Cottage - About

It was always going to be a challenge for Paul Andrew Williams (writer/director) and Ken Marshall (producer) to find the financial backing to make a genre-blending, prosthetics heavy feature film for £2.5mil. Even though several financiers and distributors were genuinely interested in the script and Paul's talent as far back as 2003, he was a first-time feature filmmaker...

Frustrated with the continual set-backs to THE COTTAGE, Paul wrote LONDON TO BRIGHTON. Made on a shoe-string budget, it was the first collaboration between Paul and Ken for their company Steel Mill Pictures. LONDON TO BRIGHTON was a huge theatrical critical success and went on to compete in several renowned film festivals, winning several awards including "Best New Director" at the Edinburgh International Film Festival and "Best Achievement in Production" at the British Independent Film Awards. Paul was nominated for a BAFTA, the pinnacle of the recognition he received.

On the back of the success of LONDON TO BRIGHTON the wheels were quickly put in motion for Steel Mill Pictures' second feature. THE COTTAGE had been a long time coming for Paul and Ken, and they were eager to finally see the film come to life.
